I was lucky enough to attend a wonderful event last night... a conversation with Donna Karan! FIT Museum director and chief curator Valerie Steele chatted with Donna in Tishman Auditorium at The New School. Parsons is launching two graduate programs in fashion studies, one of which was inspired by Ms. Karan. See my full article here...
Actually Donna Karan is providing Shelley's grant/salary so she can develop the program! Most people don't know that DK never graduated from Parsons and since she has been donating tons of money to the school, and due to her immense accomplishment in the industry she got awarded an honorary degree. And yes, the new program rocks!
I like long walks on the beach, Mediterranean food and foreign films. But seriously, I've been a designer for 18 years and I started this blog to discuss art, fashion and pop culture. When I'm not writing or designing, you can find me in downward dog (on a yoga mat :-) or running in Central Park listening to some super fast, pop punk tunes from the late 70's/early 80's.
