Bye Bye Bryant

New York Fashion Week is just around the corner and while the excitement is building, there is a bitter sweetness to this season’s shows. Fall 2010 marks the last time Bryant Park will serve as the venue for the tents. Mayor Michael Bloomberg worked with the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) and IMG Fashion (which runs the shows) for two years searching for a space that was large enough and centralized enough. Lincoln Center was the answer. Apparently, Fashion Week (which began in 1993) has outgrown the tents at the lovely park behind the library and according to IMG Fashion Senior Vice President Fern Mallis, Lincoln Center offers more room. Bryant Park is right in the heart of New York’s famous garment center and it will be a little strange to go to Lincoln Center for a fashion show rather than a ballet!

  1. I just feel luck that I'm able to make the trip before Bryant Park was no longer the venue. That is, if my flight actually makes it on Wed. AH ha ha

  3. I think the shows will do well in Lincoln Center. It's pretty convenient, though I imagine it would be tough for the models to go from their fittings to Lincoln Center as easily as when they were in The Tents. The Tents were so close to everything.
