Feeling Charitable!
This morning, I’m spending a few hours donating my time to a good cause. I know, how noble of me, right? Actually, selfish is more like it because I’m volunteering in the Archive Room at the Fashion Group Intl. I’m so excited to be surrounded by priceless antique slides and ghosts of designers who influenced me – I’m getting goose bumps just thinking about it. I’m especially interested in seeing some vintage Claire McCardell and James Galanos (or Jimmy G, as I like to call him!). Sure, it will be dusty and I’ll be sneezing up a storm. It is a big job and we’ll probably never be finished reorganizing the shelves upon shelves of slides, but I’ll be surrounded by people I admire and pictures that inspire. I can’t think of a better way to spend my Tuesday mornings.

I envy you! How I would love to see a Claire McCardell piece up close.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great volunteer job. Be sure to wear your white archival gloves!
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean some more pix of Byron Lars might show up?
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I shall check for some Byron next week...
